I have absolutely no idea, although I think he's a good singer *dives under desk to avoid flamming spears sent by the majority of the worlds population*.

Well, I am a descendant of Charles II, three generations later, so I come first. Have you any idea how many descendants of Henry VIII there are around? Tens of thousands, I would have thought.

Given the number of offspring of mediaeval monarchs - legitimate and illegitimate - I would think most of are descended from him, particularly bearing in mind the propensity of the ruling classes to knock off the servant girls.

No, The Act of Settlement passed by Parliament in 1701, mandates that the Heir to the Crown must be a descendant of the Electress Sophia of Hanover, and must be non-Catholic. The heir must not be married to a Roman Catholic. An heir must also be borne of a marriage contracted in accordance with the Royal Marriage Act of 1772. Essentially, anyone who's descent is of a line other than that of Electress Sophia, while they may have been of royal descent at one time, is not eligible to be Sovereign of the UK.

-
Apart from Jeffers' post about the Act of Settlement, there's a very precise system of determining who is second in line, third in line, fourth in line etc. I don't know what position Blunt has, but it's probably a 5-digit number at least.
-
Probably everyone in the Isles is a descendant of Henry VIII

It's highly unlikely, but your question formed an image in my head of James Blunt address the people with "You're beautiful." :P
