They will get together after a few weeks. Just treat them right, and make sure that if they get close they won't start fighting. Lot at my Avatar: The Black and White is a lot older than the other one, and he was very aggressive against him, but it only took a couple of weeks. They are now good pals.

That's pretty typical behavior. Your best bet is to keep them seperated - put the small cat in a seperate room, that the big cat usually didn't go into...and that you wouldn't mind the small cat from adopting as their territory. Keep that for a week, maybe letting the little one out, while you control all interaction. Eventually move to keeping the door open while you are home. Then move to just letting them interact. They most definitely will fight, and it's going to sound nasty. Make sure you have a seperate litter box (actually, one for each cat + 1 is recommended). Also, seperate eating/drinking bowls would be good for the first month or so.

Try Feliway: http://www.petsmart.com/media/ps/images/products/detail/standard/April06/55835_571e3.jpg It helps to calm them down. Also, make sure you pet them both ALOT -- it will mix their smells together and also put your smell on both of them.
