Yes, I have written many songs. I have recorded three cassette albums in the 80s and was about to record again in the 90s, but never got to do it. sigh

Yes I write songs, not the music though just lyrics.

Yes, I started to compose music using a mini-mac and Garageband (came with MAC OS X). I have very little musical background but know some very basic things (i.e., I can read SIMPLE music notes and understand what a chord is etc.). So far, I have only created one somewhat descent song. I have also written poetry which I though at the time might be fitting for music.
