...visually? references? Since I'm not on the dating scene, and my wife and I were virgins, no need. But if I were still single and looking for a marriage mate, I would ask (and kindly do likewise) for tests to see what to expect in the marriage as it relates to sexually transmitted diseases. It isn't loving to hide them unless you are completely unaware of them, then it's a very serious oversight. It shouldn't be considered offensive at all, but may not be cost effective or time effective for casual sex (this another reason to avoid it). Protection is always the key if you are going to be having (or have had) sex with multiple partners (even months or years apart).

I have been married for 21 years and I am visually inspected before he ventures to that dangerous place. If I scratch myself down below, the questions are asked, what is that? been scratching yourself raw again? If I have a bit of lint from toilet tissue, I am informed and told to rinse off. This past week I developed a trio of small blemishes on my right breast, that was noticed and asked about. I don't have a husband, I have a live in gynecologist.
