First I bang the machine. Then I grumble. Then I kick it. (Sometimes it worked for me) Then I click the button again and again. If all else fails, then I forget about it and go to another vending machine.

After pushing every button possible (after pushing my selection 20 times...) I talk to the people at the location where the vending machine is located. Some places will give you money back and log it and report it to the guy who stocks the machine (or sometimes they have a number to the vendor). Unfortunately more businesses are declining to take that extra step and sending you directly to the vendor by either providing you the number to call or directing you to the sticker on the machine with the number to call. If it's a gumball machine, I try again and if it still doesn't work, I'll never use that machine again.

I usually find a member of staff at the place where the vending machine is, explain what happened and ask for my money back.

i hold my hands up in the "what just happened?" kind of way, and then i try to hit the button again, and then i walk away in a sad manner.

Pout, mostly.

I walk away with my head down and stomach grumbling. then i cry myself to sleep later on.
