Catherine, with a C, maybe because I love Cats, or maybe because I knew a Katherine who was an absolute snob and hypocrite. Nobody liked her when we were working together in the same US Navy Command.

I prefer K. Only because my best friend in preschool was named Katherine and it was one of the first words I ever leaned how to spell.

I like both spellings. I think the K looks more British and the C more French.

Catherine is the usual French spelling.
Katharina is the usual German spelling.
Katherine could also be used in the U.S.
    Some people whith these names:

For me as a French, Catherine looks more familiar and I would prefer it if I had to give a name to a child.
But if I met someone with one of these names, it would not make for me much of a difference.

I prefer Catherine, but then that's my name. I always say the "C" Cathy's are the best ones. Catherine the Great was spelled with a C. So was my grandmother who I was named after.
