  • I personally believe that a gasket and sealant give you less chance of leaks...and if you find there's a gasket available for the car's oil pan, I think one should be used as well. But sometimes it's just best to go with the manufacturer's recommendations.
  • I have a 1997 Celica and I have replaced the oil pump and rear seal. Just use the recommended sealant, no gasket.
