There is a massive drug war going on right now in Mexico. news correspondents are being killed daily. Is this a good time to vacation in that country?

That is so over the top i live in Mexico and i've never heard anything of the things you've said and its save to vacation here don't worry everything is nice and calmed.

I would check with my government to see if it were safe. It could be that some areas are not safe, but others are.

Actually, as an experienced Mexican, don't even think about it. I'm not saying it because I'm mean, but the drug lords, killings, and crime are all year round. It is increasing almost every year due to the imports from all over the world. Besides Canada, it is the only way to go into the US by land. Maybe places like Yucatan, and around the tail of Mexico, then that would be a good place whereas crime is the lowest there.

ARE YOU CRAZY?!?! You couldn't PAY me to go there! Would you go to Bagdad on holiday? Mexico isn't that different. In Cancun alone, 200 people are murdered a MONTH! 2000 a year! I sure wouldn't go!

It is unless you are somehow involved or expect to get involved. I've been down there when crime was going on all around me and it never effected me at all.
