The videos I have seen and the 2 people I know who have been all say YES, aparently it was crazy! Woman would feignt (how do you spell that word?) from screaming for them! TBH I am not sure if it is in the same league as today's events, but there definatly was in their day! Edit, I just saw you asked why and not was. Hmmm, probably for the same reason there is today, people just cant control themselves some times! Also remember it was the first time anything like that existed, yes people had the other people to worship in the music industry, but never anything as amazing as the beatles were!
