I know that in some cases athletes put their lives on the line but they get paid more than enough to save and make their own retirement plans - why do the fans have to take on the burden of their extravagant life styles and plans? If they really did it for the love of the game, fans would be better off financially and more of them could have enough cash to make THEIR retirement plans! HA!

Well, first of all I don't think our entertainers should be the highest paid people in the country, OVER the people who clean up our poop so it doesn't make us sick, or the people who do all the stuff everyone else doesn't want to do. But I suppose that's a whole other topic. I DON'T think they should get a bigger pension and retirement package. They get paid so much now, if they aren't saving some of that money- they don't deserve even a penny! They should save the millions upon millions of dollars, instead of just throwing it around as if it will always be there. Go ahead, break a hip. Tell me how fast they sign you now, sucka.

I think they should save their money. They should spend and save their money wisely.

I would guess the salary should subsidize them for a lifetime. If they blow it all that’s their problem. Don’t we all have a budget of some kind?

Only the low players on the totem pole. Not all NFL players have the same contract as say Michael Vick or Tom Brady or have endorsement deals or get signing bonuses. The players that earn millions of dollars should not get a bigger pension or retirement package. This should only be an option for players who earn less that 1 million dollars a year.
