A New Zealand judge blocked the name for a newborn baby. The baby's name was "4Real." Apparently, the judge's reasoning for blocking the name was because "numerals are not allowed." What do you think about this?

I think it's bad enough we have African Americans cursing their offspring with names like Taliban and Tarantula (both people I know) and even white people with names like April May June, Harry Butts, and Candy Barr. The insanity has to end somewhere.

I agree. These kids are going to have to live with these names. We all mock those crazy ones that the stars give their kids, but I would rather see "Apple" than "4REal". Think of the children.

The law does not change so quickly as many other things. Maybe it will come in some more years. After the numbers would then come special characters, and later emoticons... Numbers are already in some artist names, such as 50 cents or Blink 182.

Living in NZ I am around some pretty strange names and there was recently a bit in the paper about just that. One name I remember was 'Talula'...this is the short version for her full first name which is on her birth certificate as 'Talula does the hula from Hawaii' other names include being named after car makes like 'Holden' & 'Ford' and even twins named 'Rum' and 'Coke'...Parents need to get a life and not have their fun at the expense of their children.

I think the judge is right: parents should think more about the impact of these crazy names on their children as they go through life (e.g. name-calling at school, form-filling, constantly having to spell and/or explain it).

To give a human being a nama that has numbers in it is way too close to what happenned in WWII. I say choose names that use the alphabet and a name the child can live with comfortably. The judge did the right thing and put the baby's interest above all. What the so called parents should have done.

Those are the dangers of asking and letting the government in your life. I doubt that Americans will ever see it that way or how close they're coming by asking the government to legislate things like same marriage sex and abortion
