  • In mathematics it is always best to use the metric system unfortunately because it is systematic. 1 inch = 2.54 cm. 16' = 40.64 cm 3' = 7.62 cm Area of circle = Pi*radius^2 Volume of a cyclider = height*area of circle =7.62*Pi*(40.64/2)^2 =7.62*Pi*20.32^2 =7.62*Pi*412.9024 =Pi*3146.316288 =9884.444... cm^3 =9.884... litres 1 imperial gallon = 4.546... litres 9.884.../4.546... = 2.174... gallons ~= 2 gallons 1 pint 8 fl oz For US gallon, merely replace 4.546... with 3.785...! I've just realized my mistake, I was tired when working it out though if that is any excuse. I thought the apostrophe was an inch but of course the quotation mark is an inch! 16 feet = 487.68 cm 3 feet = 91.44 cm Pi*91.44*243.84^2 = 17080319.467... cm^3 17080.319.../4.546... = 3757.138 gallons
  • look up the formula for the volume of a circular prism i think
  • The surface area will be Pi * r^2. Since the radius is half the diameter, in your case, r = 8. So Pi * r^2 = 3.1415 * 64 = 201.056. Multiply this by the depth, and you get 603.168 cubic feet of water. Next you need to transfer cubic feet of water into gallons. The easiest way to do that is to plug it into an online converter. (You can also multiply the cubic feet by the 7.48 gallons in one cubic foot.) The first one I found was at http://www.metric-conversions.org/volume/cubic-feet-to-us-liquid-gallons.htm and the result was that: Your swimming pool holds 4512 gallons of water.
  • They did not give a specific version of a gallon and seeing as the imperial is the original I chose to gove the answer in the imperial measurement. You gave the first equation and then the answer, not your workings nor an explanation for why you chose those figures and how to use them. In every answer in mathematics it is wise to put the formula down first to show what you are doing, even if you make a silly mistake during the calculations.
  • 801.73 gallons
  • 12-23-2016 Eltenwe nailed it, but you can do all your arithmetic and conversions at google.com so you don't have to search for on-line calculators. Like this: https://www.google.com/#q=convert+603.185+cubic+feet+to+gallons
