  • Of all the groups that came out of Seattle in the grunge explosion of the early 90's, these guys never really did it for me, I can't really give a good reason as to why. Their sound was a little bit creepier and than say, Pearl Jam. Much had to do with the voice of Layne Staley, which is an acquired taste. On the positive side I like some guitar work by Jerry Cantrell. The songs I like the most from them are "Would?" and "No excuses", as well as their unplugged performance.
  • I loved them, Brilliant lyrics (a bit melodramatic, but you expect that with grunge) and great melodies. Any Idiot who takes Heroine and Cocaine at the same time though, is asking for it. Or either one at all for that matter.
  • They rocked. I listened to them a lot in the early 90's when I was in college. I love that song "man in the box" most of all.
  • Someone should just give her the keys, I am sick of hearing about her!
  • I liked them. Rooster, Man in a Box, Would... they were all on my top 50 playlist throughout high school and even my early college years. Lately I haven't broken out the cd and listened to their music, but once in a while a song will pop up on my .mp3 playlist. :)
  • AIC... The best band ever. My band Ploughman's Lunch just covers AIC songs. www.myspace.com/ploughmanslunch
  • just saw them live, and it was a moving moment in my life, and i was very, very unsure if I could watch and/or like aic without layne staley. it was moving.
  • Hated 'em in the early 90's but have grown to really appreciate them over the years...
  • In 1996 my husband bought one of their CD's. I used to like to draw while listening to it.
  • the song nutshell used to always make me so sad. i love it.
  • They're good, but Nirvana is way better as far as Washington grunge bands go.
  • One of the greatest bands ever. They have awesome lyrics. Layne Staley has the best voice.

  • Decent band, leaves an impression.
  • Still one of my favorite bands, ever! They paved the way for the current sound of rock, in which newer bands still pay tribute to them. "Layne" by Staind, Godsmack of course named after them. Here is a video of one my favorite songs by them, called "Nutshell". It's sad to see that even then, Layne was struggling from his drug addiction and was falling apart on this televised MTV event. This "Unplugged" concert was mentioned as one of the most memorable performances in rock history by any band. Of course, it would be their last with front man Layne Staley.
  • I have a lot of thoughts about Alice in Chains, all of them fantastically positive.
  • I love AIC. Especially how Staley's voice and Cantrel's voice harmonized so well. Kick a55 band in my book.
  • That they are AWESOME man in a box is just awesome
