Is soft water harmful to fish and if so how do I increase the hardness of the water?

Soft water is not harmful to fish. I run both a salt water and fresh water tank on softened water. No problem.

Hello; Fish and plants need some trace elements that the softener removes. I usually mix my water and leave it alone until I clean the gravel bed once a month. To increase the hardness --- there is usually one faucet that is bypassed for watering the grass and plants etc., or you can add a small piece of coral or some soft sedentary rocks. OFM
