  • Not really... if anything I would say any preconceived notions I may have had have been reinforced. Of course, whether this is a good or a bad thing depends on exactly what those notions are!
  • Not really. I was already open-minded and not terribly judgmental. It is always interesting to see peoples opinions though, so I really enjoy it.
  • I know of some AB'ers whose life mission is to want to get on your last nerve so I steer clear of them but I enjoy hearing of how others think and I have learned alot about topics that I would not normally care about. I leave my mind open to all opinions and state mine.
  • Even more inquisitive.
  • Yes, I think I've made quite a few adjustments and learned a lot about myself. A lot of people avoid conflicts on AB... staying away from users they don't trust, avoiding "hot button" topics, etc. While I do a fair amount of that too, I've found that a lot of the best value I've gotten for my time online is when I just wade right in to the fracas and try to keep my balance: that's where I learn what I'm attached to, where I'm blind, where I don't listen, where my arrogance is thick enough to earn me sharp zings, and how to get through to someone who seems unreachably protected by thick layers of self-righteousness or frozen stiffness. Going through those conflicts is like popping myself into a blender and hitting "puree'" -- it's uncomfortable and disorienting. But when I relax, and reflect on what was learned, and put myself back together, I usually find there's some handy new accessories that weren't present before... and maybe a little more wisdom and compassion for others. AB participation has a lot more to offer than just social fun, I feel.
