  • I most certainly hope not but I have known people who take websites more seriously than real life. That is a bit disturbing to me.
  • There's no difference between this site and real life: you're talking to human beings, using an electronic medium. All of that is part of real life. Actually, most of the trouble comes when there are people who DON'T take it seriously -- in particular, they think it doesn't matter if they're rude, irritating, angry, hostile, snotty, or otherwise anti-social in their online behavior... because, after all "it's just a web site", yes? No, that's actually false. It's not "just a web site", the web site is merely the hub of a huge wheel of people, with each person a spoke. If you don't recognize that, you don't really know what AB is... it's people. So the smart folks figure that out, and learn to appreciate and enjoy the whole wheel. The dumb ones just put their personality disorders on display to make as much trouble as possible.
