  • no. i have a 10 Gal fish tank and they do not live poorly. i got my angelfish from Wal-Mart and it is perfectily fine.he did fine when he was small too. i only have 4 fake plants in there and decortive shells. also 2 slugs and he lives fine. he started dying when i didt keep his water at 72.7 or 73.00. it is a perfect temp. Yes he is 7.1/4 of an inch. and i only hade him for 2 years. (the biggest they can get is 6 in, but he is about 7 in)he is a freshwater fish. later on i will send you a pic of him. if you want me to email me.   • they'll be fine. they will only grow to the limit of the tanks size... fear not.
  • The rule of thumb is one inch of fish per gallon of water. If you have 4 angelfish, they'll grow to an average of 2.5 inches, then larger if/when one of the others dies.
  • Fish growing to the size of their tank is a myth. They stop growing on the outside but their organs continue to grow and thus pressure increases on them. Soon enough, their internal organs fail, a painful death. I would not keep an angelfish in any tank smaller then 20 gallons and atleast 1 foot tall. Any large fish kept in a small aquarium WILL do poorly and/or die an early death.
