  • A football match can only take place as long as both teams have atleast 7 players on the pitch at any time. If for example, a team starts with 11 players (normal) they use all their substitutes. They then get 3 players sent off (red card) and one injured to the point where he needs to be taken off the pitch. This would leave them with 7 players, the game goes on! If they then get a 4th red card, leaving them with only 6 players, the game gets forfitted and it is down to the loacal authority (in the UK for profesional football this means the FA) to decide the final score.
