  • my dad. my mum passed away when me and my brother was young. i always thought he was getting on at me all the time but now im older i realise why he did what he did. ive learned lots from my dad and if it wasnt for him i wouldnt be the person i am today
  • my mother. she is one tough cookie and has strange ways of dealing with things but she has definitely taught me to never let my guard down and never let my standards lower. also more importantly she has taught me the power of change, healing and an education.
  • A Spirit I've just come in contact with.
  • My parents always demanded that I become more than I thought I could be. I miss them but know I will see them again. Otherwise, in the work world it was a man named Jim, for whom I worked some years ago. It seemed we were always at odds, but once he moved on I missed him like I miss my parents after they passed. I called him three years ago and we doubled for an evening on the town. I shared with him how much his example meant and today we are good friends.
  • My high school Latin teacher, Col. Gracey, at Columbia Military Academy (no longer commissioned). He taught "sticktuitiveness" about staying with a problem and working on finding a solution regardless of the obstacles presented, and he used Latin and Greek language as vehicles to teach it. He demanded strict discipline in the classroom, and tempered it with his intelligence and dry wit. He was a model for all people because he didn't force his hand on anyone without leading by example. His sense of history and tradition taught respect for what has gone before, and his respect for the students gave us pride and a sense of honor. I will always love this man.
  • My 9th grade English teacher was extremely tough on me when I needed it, but she's helped me through some rough patches before. A lot of the "grammatical genius" that I am renowned for, I owe to her.
