  • Sorry, I was unable to finish my question in the space provided, here is the rest: If this is right, why did the disciples still call Him Jesus after the resurrection, and why do you as Jehovah Witness's at the end of prayer end with "in Jesus name"? Why not "in Michaels name"?
  • The name “Michael” means “Who Is Like God?” so this foremost prince upholds Jehovah’s sovereignty. Since Michael is also a champion of God’s people, we have reason to identify him with the unnamed angel that God sent ahead of the Israelites hundreds of years before:--Exodus 23:20, 21. Well, in other parts of this same prophecy, the term “stand up” means that the person assumes authority to rule as a king. (Daniel 11:3, 4, 7, 20, 21) Hence, when Michael ‘stands up’ he, too, starts to rule as a king. Daniel’s prophecy showed that one day in the future God’s people would once again have a king—Michael. We learn from Jude that Michael had the post of archangel. In fact, he was THEE archangel, since no other archangel is mentioned in the Bible, nor does the Bible use “archangel” in the plural. “Archangel” means “Chief of the angels.” (Thayer’s Greek-English Lexicon of the New Testament) Among God’s spirit servants, only two names are associated with authority over angels: Michael and Jesus Christ. (Matthew 16:27; 25:31; 2 Thessalonians 1:7) This, too, argues that Jesus and Michael are the same. The name of Jesus is linked with the word “archangel” in one of Paul’s letters. (1 Thessalonians 4:16) The context places this event during “the presence of the Lord,” when Jesus has started to rule as king.—1 Thessalonians 4:15; Matthew 24:3; Revelation 11:15-18. (John 6:38-40) only an archangel can call with an archangel’s voice, and no one but Jesus has been given the authority to resurrect the dead. Hence, this rousing prophecy gives additional strong reason for identifying Jesus with the archangel, Michael. The final appearance of the name Michael in the Bible is in the book of Revelation. (Revelation 12:7, 8) Here we see Michael in action as God’s archangel. He, along with “HIS angels,” defeats Satan and casts him down to the earth. The appearance of the name Michael, instead of Jesus, in Revelation chapter 12 draws our attention to the prophecy considered earlier in Daniel chapter 12. In Daniel we read of Michael’s standing up. (Daniel 12:1) In Revelation chapter 12, Michael acts like a conquering monarch throwing Satan down to the earth. The result: “Woe for the earth and for the sea.”—Revelation 12:12. So Michael and Jesus are doing the very same job in the Bible. Interesting. Remember too that Jesus is the name given to the Son after he came to earth to live as a man. What was he called before that?
  • Doctrines of demons. Lies after lies. Now they are in a trap with their own confusions. My 2 cents.
  • Although Rev 12 makes reference to Michael, as archangel, his responsibility is limited to warring against Satan in a offensive capacity just as a general does in a battle. To use a modern example; General MacArthur was responsible for the War in the Pacific to push back the Japanese, BUT he was still under the overall command of President Roosevelt. Although you can have a major role in a war, and even beat the enemy, this does not automatically mean you are then the President of the United States, which seems to be the argument of a previous respondent.Michael and Jesus are separate individuals, Michael being under the Lordship and Rule of Jesus. The President is still Commander and Chief, and this is of course who JESUS is, the Mighty All Conquering one! I have never heard Michael, called the King of Kings, and Lord of Lords. (See Rev 19:11 - 16.)
  • According to scripture Jesus has a number of names in the beginning He was the word during His earthly course Jesus Christ and Michael because he is now a reigning King in Heaven ready to destroy enemies of GOD at the great tribulation different names for different roles
  • For a religion that doesn't celebrate Christmas or Easter, I wouldn't believe a damn thing they come up with. Remember the JW's are nothing more than a cult, a dangerous cult.
  • Now, on top of everything else, the dude suffers from a case of mistaken identity too? Wow!
  • there is no record of what jesus was before he came to earth. i would like them to show it to me in the bible, this is were they strat getting out of line.
  • The truth is that ist would be impossible for the arch angel Michael to be Jesus. 1 It would take a reincarnation of the angel, meaning since angels are eternal beings, would have to die and then God would have to put that spirit into the "man" Jesus. God does not do interspecies, angel to human, or reincarnation. 2. Michael does mean " one like God" But the name emmanual means "GOd amoung us" and God gave both these beings their names. So is God a liar? One to be like God, or even strive to be like God, or even an immitation of God is not the same as ......." God amoung us".... Their is no confussion there. God amoung us was a name given by God. And Jesus means, "God who is salvation" Also a name that GOd gave. THe angel Gabriel told Mary His name would be Jesus. And angels do not do anything but Gods work, so the assumption is that God HImself gave the name, concluding that God the Father himself names Jesus as God showing His diety Angels by definition are the messengers... These are other biblical passages to back up the thoughts. Are Jehovah's Witnesses just another Christian denomination? I believe not. They deny the ultimate deity of Christ, and that is dangerous ground: That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. -Romans 10:9 Jesus is the Lord God, as is made clear in MANY scriptures, some of which we will delve into later in this article. JWs won't deny Jesus as "a god," but they will not confess Him as THE God. Tell a JW to look up John 1:1 in their New World Order New World Translation, and you'll see straight heresy: "In [the] beginning the Word was, and the Word was with God, and the Word was a god." John 1:1 from the New World Translation Not only do they add to the Word of God by having the word 'a' added to the text, but they don't even capitalize the word 'god' in reference to Jesus Christ. A JW told me that there are many Gods mentioned in the Bible, as part of his argument that there isn't just one God. My response was this: Yes, many gods are mentioned in the Bible, but notice that only the one true God is given a capital 'g.' All false gods in the Bible are given lower case 'g,' such as where the Bible tells us that Satan is currently the god of this world - lower case 'g.' But the NWT Bible in John 1:1 gives also Jesus a lower case 'g.' for God. In the Bible, lower case 'g' always denotes false Gods. Is the NWT trying to tell us that Jesus is not a real God, hence the lower case 'g?' I didn't get an answer. The JW quickly changed the subject. Who Translated the NWT Bible, and does the word 'a' belong in John 1:1 as "a god?" JWs will tell you that the translators of the NWT are unknown, because they didn't want the glory for bringing about the "true Word of God" to man. However, maybe these translator(s) wanted to stay anonymous, because of their ignorance of the original languages, and didn't want to fall under scrutiny for incorrectly translating the Bible. Dr. D. James Kennedy had some JWs come to his door once. When he brought out John 1:1, in which the uncorrupted version says: In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The JWs took out their NWT translation, and stated that 'the word was a god," not THE God. The JW's told him that the Greek says 'a god.’ Kennedy then brought out his copy of the Greek that the New Testament was translated from, and asked the JWs to point out where it says 'a.' They couldn't point it out, and neither could Kennedy, because 'a' isn't in there. The original Greek didn't say 'a god,' it said "the Word was God." How many Gods are there? JWs will tell you that Jehovah is the true God, that Jesus is 'a god,' and that the Holy Spirit is nothing but a mere 'force.' How many Gods does the Bible say there are? Let's take a look: Have we not all one father? hath not one God created us? why do we deal treacherously every man against his brother, by profaning the covenant of our fathers? -Malachi 2:10 The New Testament tells us that Jesus created all things (Colossians 1:16) yet the Old Testament tells us that God did (Genesis 1:1). How many Gods are there? Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD: -Deuteronomy 6:4 The JW's doctrine creates contradictions in the Bible. False beliefs will always do so. If you come across a contradiction in your Bible, then you are either reading a corrupted Bible, misunderstanding the scripture, or are trying to make the Bible fit a false teaching. If Jesus is 'a god,' then there is a contradiction, because the Bible tells us there is only one true God. It tells us there are many false gods. By the NWT keeping 'god' for Jesus in lower case in John 1:1, it almost looks like they are calling Jesus a false god. Calling him a false god would clear up the contradiction of there only being one God. However, Jesus is the one true God, as many other scriptures show... I next brought out 1 John 5:7: For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. So far we have established that John 1:1 is supposed to read the "the Word is God," not the NWT's "a god." We also took a look at 1John 5:7 What about other scriptures stating that Jesus is God? There are many more. Below is one of my favorites: And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory. -1Timothy 3:16 When I pointed out that scripture, the JWs had no answer; the subject was again changed. Does Jesus claim deity? Absolutely. He claims to be the I AM (John 8:58), he claims to be able to forgive sins, when only God is able to do so (see Mark 2:5-10), He claims to be not only Lord, but Lord of the Sabbath (Mark 2:28). He says he is the Christ (Mark 14:61-62) of which the Old Testament says is God. The Old Testament even says that the Son is God Himself: For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6 In the Old Testament it was prophesied that Immanuel would come. The Bible tells us that Immanuel means "God with us." In the New Testament Gospels, it tells us that Jesus is Immanuel - God with us: Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us {not "a god with us"}. Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife: And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS. -Matthew 1:22-25 In the Bible, all names have meanings. For example, Moses means "drawn out." He was so named, because as a babe he was drawn out of the water. God changed Abram's name to Abraham, which means 'father of many nations,' and that is precisely what Abraham became. What does the name 'Jesus' mean? It is derived from the Hebrew Jehoshua, which literally means "God who is Salvation." (See Dake Bible note j, column 4, page 1* standard edition). If denying Jesus as God was the only erroneous thing the JWs had wrong, then we could just focus on that point and move on. However the false doctrine runs deep, VERY deep.
  • It is impossible for Michael to be Jesus. 1 that would take reincarnation of one eternal being the angel, to be put to death, and then put into a new form, being Jesus. God does not work in such ways. He does not do reincarnation. The guys before said that Michael was the champion of the Isrealites. In the bible in that scripture it does not say such things. And whenever the bible has an angel of the lord going before something it is refering to two different kind of thing. ONe angel of the lord is just the messenger angel and the other in Jesus. Why you say, well because where ever those particular instances come up in the bible their is the translation "wonderful". In the OT the word wonderful was only used to describe God. And Jesus being God is conclusive that it was Him. 2. God would be a liar if it where the archangel. Why? Because the names in those days meant more than anything in these times (generally speaking). Everyname had a particular meaning for Gods purpose. When Jesus was born an angel of the lord appeared and told the sheperds that a Saviour has been born to you, he is Christ the Lord. Luke 4:9 The point That Jesus means The Lord saves, Christ means Messiah or saviuor, Immanual means God amoung us, which is also a name that was given to him in a prophecy in Isaiah. Which God gives prophecy through the Holy Spirit. And in gensis God says make man in Our image. If like the Jehovah witness's believe that Jesus was not n the beginning who is our in image? Well The Holy spirit is hovering over the waters and does not have shape, and God the fathers face can not even be shown to men or they will die, what did He use to create the image of us? And if the bible is God inspired and Moses wrote that, how would he have known that Jesus would even come into play 2000 years later? 3. Jesus ='s himself with GOd on numerous occasions. Something an angel would not do. Remember the last one that did that? Satan. When talking to Moses God says that His name is I AM. Pretty amazing. He just is. No Jesus says I am tons of places I am the way the truth and the life, no one get to the Father but through me. If you really knew me, you would know my Father aswell. From now on you do know HIm and have see him. Pretty big words saying that because you have seen him (Jesus) that you have seen God, especially if he ws not God. I am the ressurectin and the life.John 11;25 I and the Father are one John 10;30 I am the gate for the sheep I am the light of the world This is huge...Jesus says in John 8:58 Before Abraham was born, I am. I mean what more do you want Angels do not talk that way at all in scripture. It is strictly Diety talk. Just to let anyone know. In the bible angels do not recieve praise. If they are ever in a scripture and they are talking to a human and the human starts to bow or worship they tell the no, or do not be affraid. Jesus did except praise, I can not find it right now of course, but I believe it is in the temple when the children praise him and sing Hosana in the highest, hosana mean a shout of fervent praise. And I beleive in revelations there is a time when the Arch angel Michael is sent by Jesus to fight the antichrist. ut I could not find it yet. How could he do that if they are the same person. Found it Rev.12:7 Michael and his angel faught against the dragon.......the thing about this scripture is that it refers to the archangel micheal in the arch angel status. in all the rest of rev. Jesus is king, Lord,Lamb. and all the angels including /michael do the work Jesus tells them to do, or that is planned. i gotta go i am one hand tyoing holding a baby. remember, God is pretty clear with the scriptures that back up other ones
  • i am a jehovas witness and that is not true!
