The Roman philosopher Seneca said “Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity.” I think there is some truth in that. An example might be getting an education. You may one day get a really good high paying job and think you were very lucky to get it. The truth would be it was not luck that you were prepared when the opportunity presented itself. You would not have been hired for the postition if you had not gone to the effort to make yourself qualified.
