I think that there may be more than one reason for that. Perhaps they didn't get attention as a child and this is there way of making up for that. It could be that they are genuinely out going and it just makes them the center of attention. Or, it could be that they just crave attention. Who can really say, unless we know the person personally.

Histrionic Personality Disorder - this is one of the symptoms. I'm looking for help right now, as I think I may be one of the people with this disorder. I constantly seek attention and am insatiable. I always want attention from others i'm romantically linked to, part of this is to fill a hole in myself, as I need their approval to feel good about myself.

Because they are incredibly selfish, self-centered, spoiled, and immature. They cannot think ever of other people's feelings or that other people have needs and problems. They have to insinuate themselves into every possible situation to make sure they are the Queen Bee or King of the Hill . . . I am convinced it is a major personality disorder and it certainly affects the lives of those around them . . . like people who are about to get married or graduate from school or go on a long-planned vacation and one of their children/siblings/parents suddenly asks them to do something huge for him/her . . . totally ignoring the fact that it is someone else's time and being pig-headedly, outlandishly selfish. It is really awful and they need to (a) GROW UP and (b) get over themselves.
