Adam was made as a threefold individual: body (our earthly, outward, vehicle), soul( the intellect, mind, person, and the part of us made to exist forever), and spirit(can mean different things, but in this sense, the part of us made to have communion and fellowship with God). All of us are like this, but due to Adam's sin, our spirit is dead (seperated from God) when we are born, our body is condemned to die and stop functioning, and our soul is condemned to be seperated from God for eternity. Adam sinned in his whole being I believe, thus, he and all of his children were condemned to die physically and spiritually, however, God in His grace and mercy sent Christ His Son to be forsaken by God and bled and die on the cross of Calvary for our sins so that we could be saved and our debt could be paid in full. I hope that this is helpful. -In the Master's service. Thank you and God bless you!

(NOTE: I am answering this question from a Christian perspective. I realize that not everyone believes this. Christians, if I am wrong, would you please correct me?) These are very good questions. I would say that Adam was given both a body and a soul. Not every soul is sinless. See Ezekiel 18:4 and Ezekiel 18:20, or just read below if you're too lazy to look them up yourself. "Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die." - Ezekiel 18:4 (KJV). "The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him." - Ezekiel 18:20 (KJV). You may also want to check out the entire chapter of Romans 8. I personally recommend the KJV, but in the end, it's all up to you which version you want to read and which version you don't want to read. Here's one of the many important verses in that chapter. "And if Christ *be* in you, the body *is* dead because of sin; but the Spirit *is* life because of righteousness." - Romans 8:10 (KJV). I would say that both the soul and the body are guilty of sin. That is why we need a "Saviour" who is sinless to wash away our sins and make our souls pure. "Flesh" is not spoken well of in the Bible and neither are the "things of the flesh". To me, that means that even if we are saved by God, we still live in sinful bodies.
