Yeah that is sad. I hope you called the police, that is a crime, but I've had to call animal services when I was driving home and in a dirt lot next to a house, chained to a tree, the skinniest pitt bull I've ever seen was back there. I stopped and took note of the address, and the fact that there were no food/water dishes and the dog was so hungry he was eating dirt. I drove home by that house again 2 days later and I didn't see a dog, I hoep someone took care of it.

My friend and I went to a horse farm to purchase 2 horses,we went into the barn and saw 3 dead horses, 1 horse was standing on only 3 legs, the other leg was broke and just hanging, I will spare you the details of the condition of the other horses, I ran out of the barn screaming, went home and called the Michigan humane society, most of the horses had to be put down, the owner was fined heavily,

I found a dead cat in front of my work place about a week ago. it was lying there with it's eyes open and it was so sad. It was run over and the person left it there to die,I had to pick it up and wrap it in a bag and put it in a box and wait all day for the town to come and pick it up. I will never forget that look. the cat looked so scared even in death,i still cry when i think of it.

one of my exes, when i met him, had a number of dogs on his property that he was letting someone keep there, however the person whose dogs they were never made any provisions for them. these dogs lived outside on chains maybe a foot long, laying in their feces, with no doghouses, in the snow, in the winter. they were fed moldy bread instead of dog food. finally the person agreed to let me find homes for the poor things. i kept two. one that i kept, i named rascal, close to the name he was called before i took him, which was "asshole". the poor guy had a leather collar that was put on when he was small, and as he grew, the collar became partially grown into his neck. he also had a leg that at some point had been broken, apparently from being kicked, and healed up all crooked. he was a rott/lab/dal mix, and became very protective of me, though being a half-starved little cripple, he was not very scary. i lost him to parvo soon after i rescued him, even though i got him shots.

It's time for Sheriff Raff to get on her soapbox. Summer is coming up in NY and people feel the need to take their dogs with them to the market. The only problem is....Dogs aren't allowed inside stores. If you take your dog with you on a mild day and leave them in the car with the windows partially up, it becomes like a MINI-GREENHOUSE inside the car very quickly. When I am in a parking lot and see a dog barking and panting because they are over-heating it makes me sick. If you live in the burbs outside of NYC, do not leave your dog in your car with the windows half up. You just may find me waiting by your car to give you a little tongue lashing.
