Riff-Raff, if you attempt to correct your parents, you're probably pursuing a Sisyphean task. I have a parent who views people almost entirely through the lens of their ethnicity/skin color/religion and I find it deeply frustrating. Over the years I have tried to hint that these factors are irrelevant to me with little or no effect. I think it's very much a generational difference. Pre-Baby Boomers, bigotry was much more tolerated than it has been since the civil rights movement. Good luck with your education efforts. . . .

No I figure they should know the terminology and normally walk away from someone who uses such disrepect for other humans. I have found that no one like for someone to walk away from them and will wise up if enough people refuse to listen to them.
