  • The only side effect I ever got was nausea if I didnt eat something while taking it. Your suppose to wean yourself off of it gradually over a weeks time but some have to take it longer and then you get a puffy face someetimes.
  • The only sisde effect I got was it made me a little hyper, and I was hungry after I took it, but I was told that having a puffy face could happen too, but it never did, it made me pee alot too so drink lots of fluid with it.
  • After prolonged use, I have had friends report side effects such as bloating and depression. You and your doctor can monitor these. If you are on prednisone, I am sure you are being closely watched by your physician. Before to report everything to him/her. Prednisone is a wonderful and powerful drug when needed.
  • It's over 10 years since I took any, but my weight went from 12 1/2 stone to 18 within a year due to fluid retention, enforcing a whole new wardrobe on me. After stopping them I experienced some sudden dizzyness (nasty when going down stairs) for a few days and the weight was back to normal within about 6 months.
  • It depends on the dosage. It can affect your mood and/or your appetite.
  • I have taken 5 mg of prednisone per day for 6 years. I had no bad effects that I could tell. I have Rumatoid Arthritis. I have change Doctors, and this Dr. wants me to stop using it. The pain and crippling immediately came back after about 2 weeks. How long would it take for my body to adjust to the withdrawals.
  • I can't even take prednisone, as it sends my heart rate too high. All steriods raise your blood sugar. They also cause other glands, like the pituitary and adrenal glands to reduce function or stop functioning. You should never go off steriods cold turkey. Because of the reduced function of those glands, you have to come off slowly and let the glands begin to function again. If their function is low enough and you stop cold turkey, it can stop your heart.
  • I have been on Prednisone for years for an autoimmune disease. It was so important when my illness was triggered to cope with it but now I am so sick of having to take it every day. I have gained about 40 pounds and it is almost impossible to loss weight no matter what I try. Prednisone is like a poison and it seems to be a double edged sword....it is so powerful when you really need it, but it is not real good for you in general.
  • I have, I can't take the stuff. Even the smallest dose makes my heart race until you can't discern a heartbeat, just a thready flutter. I have to take Decadron instead, and it ain't fun either.
  • I take several rounds of prednisone a year for chronic sinus problems. The only side effect I experience is excruciating muscle pain in my back, hips and through my legs. It occurs within a few hours of the first dosage when I start another round of the medicine. It always goes away within a day, but while it lasts, it is very painful.
