I don't usually have words in my dreams (that I recall), but I've been told that when I mumble in my sleep, it's in Russian. Yes, it is my first language.

I speak 4 languages fluently. But english is my mother tongue, so I mostly dream in english. However, I have dreamt in my other languages- Indonesian, German and Italian. I think I have even dreamt in French, which I can speak but not fluently.

I have to go to an appointment, but I will check back later. For now the dream imaging that you experience makes me think you may be experiencing a "dual-dominance" of language. If you find in the future that you start dreaming primarily in one language or the other and wish to retain dual dominance fluency you might try consciously thinking you wish to dream in whichever language seems to be "weakening." The theory is that you instruct your brain to "practice" the desired language during your dream cycles thus reinforcing its retention.
