Even though I love ALL animals, reptiles, birds and fish, I HAVE been thinking of getting two male rats. I hear they are more of a "lap" pet whereas the females are more active. So, I guess that answers your question!

I'm female and already have a rat (I did have 4, but the adorable little fuzzheads seem to die so quickly... so sad. Talk about clever though! and bloody naughty!! I was reading in bed last night as realised I'd left Jiggs out roaming, I went down and found an open box of Jaffa cakes on the floor, 12 of them were in her cage along with a whole crumpet, a dog bone as big as herself, and teeth marks in the butter on the side!!! So bad but I wouldn't change them for the world. Dogs are a mans best friend - and rats are the pocketsized version. x

That's hard. I'd want one of each. I am female. I guess snake or hedgehog would be my first choices. I love rats too though, they are actually very friendly. Maybe I'll think this over more.

Definitely NOT a snake -- don't need to address that phobia. I'm drawn to the hedgehog, but since they aren't native to the U.S. it'd probably be a bit tricky to get one; plus I know nothing about what kind of care they'd require. I guess that leaves a rat. (but I'd rather just keep my dog) <female>

Hedgehog!! They're cuuute [: If it was a reaaaally big snake, then I guess that would be my second choice. I'm absolutely terrified of those thin, small snakes, cuz if they get loose, you'll never know where they might end up (under the sofa, in your sock drawer...ehww)! =/ 3rd-My sister wants a rat. I don't get why. People pay good money to get RID of rats... But, I guess if I HAD to have one, I would learn to love it. Cause after all, it's just like..a squirrel with less hair and a thinner tail, right? Lol FeMaLe.

I would, without a doubt, pick a snake! In fact, the only reason I dont have one is cos the misses wont let me! I am male btw. But my ideal pet, assuming I had the land and ability to keep it well, would be a giraff! Why? Have you ever heard anyone say "I want a giraff?" NO! And I like to be diffrent!

We are getting a hedgehog...But I'm a weird female and would get any of these critters. Currently we have 2 dogs, a great dane/boxer mix and a beagle. We also have two guinea pigs, one more pig on the way next week with the hedgehog! If we got a snake it would probably have to be pretty, and the rat would have to be friendly. So there you have it...I guess I am a little girly when it comes to "gross" critters!

I'm female. Rats make great pets! My sister had one and I used to sneak into her room to play with that thing every chance I got. It was tame and smart and awesome and it LOVED human company. A snake will tolerate human company at best.

Female, and I'd take the hedgie! They're so sweet. Rats are cool, too, though. My brother has one... I threw a fit when he got it, but that thing is so dern smart. It answers to its name! If I had someone else to feed it, I wouldn't mind the snake. I think my kitty would kill any of them, though, so none are in my future.

Hedgehog. They're pretty cute. Snake might be a bit creepy and around here, we try to get *rid* of rats, not keep them as pets! I'm female.

Easy enough, Get a snake and feed it rats. Just don't get too emotionaly attached to the rats.

Hmm... well, hedgehogs are really cute -- we used to feed a family of them back in Russia -- but they are illegal to keep here... rats are cute as well as smart, so maybe that. As far as snakes, I would like one... but unfortunately, the closest I have to a pet snake is a wild rat snake that is somewhere in my house, hiding. I'm female.
