  • ive banned my bf from trying to fix anything, he tried fixing the ps2 but it ended up in pieces we had to buy another, then he tried fixing our bedroom tv that broke completly, everything he touches brakes so ive told him to leave everything alone now.....lol
  • there was the time that i tried to fix the air conditioner...yeah im not allowed to come within three feet of the thing if i have a tool in my hand
  • I am not a man, but I took apart a carburetor once, and had all these left over screws at the end. I have no idea where they were supposed to fit. I guess it would not have worked had I fitted it to a car, but it was lucky that it was just a spare part from my Dad's collection of bits.
  • Like tani, I am not male. However, I got a macho complex at work yesterday and decided it would be a great idea for me to take a laptop apart and try to install a new processor. I work well with desktops - not with laptops. Once I had the thing open and there were screws lying everywhere, I realized it would be best to pass the task off to one of the techs........
  • yes, my hart
  • If so many females have done this, then is it really a macho complex? Or just a stereotype? I took apart a toy I got from McDonalds when I was young, and the accursed springs and levers meant I couldnt put it back together again without 4 hands to hold all the parts in place. Soon after I took a CD Burner apart, and to this day, I think it was one of the most impressive and fascinating pieces of engineering I have ever seen. All the parts have a clear use, and it is all packed away so well. I put it back together, to see if I had gotten it right. I had forgotten one screw, but it worked fine :) Funny how McDonalds had me beat, but a complex and sensitive piece of electronics was quite forgiving.
  • Does blowing up something count? If so, I "took apart" my dad's lawn mower. I won't go into any details on what happened leading up to it, but I will say this, sugar & gasoline do NOT mix.
  • My turntable is lying to the side. The motor stopped working. Fixed it but now it needs some kind of grease that is no longer manufactured. Damned vintage electronics.
  • Sort of, once my friends took apart an automatic airsoft gun and I was right there. Once it was open all of the pieces just popped out and none of us could figure out how to put it back together. But oh well, it was broken anyway, it only cost $20, and I have plenty more. By the way, why is this a gender specific question? It's like asking, "Women, what's your best recipe for <food>?"
  • Yes >_> took apart a laptop (very old) thinking I knew the general design, turns out whoever originally put it together meant for it to STAY that way, after I took it apart I realized that nothing was screwed in and that it was impossible to get the lid back on it.
  • my bro took apart my toy green VW bug and now its missing 2 windows and the wheels won't spin
