Why do hickies look like spots of red dots, rather than bite marks?

Because they're not made from bites. They are made when the skin is sucked on so hard that the pressure bursts blood vessels.

It is called involuntary blood clotting...when you suck on the skin of someone, the blood rises from the vein to the skin...with no where to go, it clots...hence the red dots..this is very dangerous because blood clots cause death and strokes...just food for thought..;)

Unless a vampire bites you, sucking hard causes capillaries, tiny blood vessels under the skin to burst, showing up as little red dots and there you have your ‘hickie’.
