The only thing that causes AIDS is the HIV virus. You can 'catch' the HIV virus by having blood-to-blood contact with someone with HIV (ie sharing a needle, a blood transfusion, a razor etc with someone with HIV), drinking the breastmilk of someone with HIV, or having unprotected anal, vaginal or oral sex with a person who has HIV.
