  • I don't think so. Before I started my diet, I used to spend about $250 per week on groceries. Now I'm spending around $120. I think it's because I'm not wasting money on junk/snack foods and preparing more meals (which is way cheaper than buying premade stuff) from scratch.
  • It costs more but I don't shop anymore because of it.
  • Fat is cheap. The healthier food items available at the Supermarket are the most expensive. But, if you can cook , or have the time to cook, it may be cheaper, because you may be able to purchase raw items and prepare them, saving money. Few people have the time to get involved into home cooking these days.
  • I don't think it does. Price per pound, fruit and veggies are less expensive than meat. Dried beans and rice are very inexpensive. Most whole grains are not expensive. Most lean meats are less expensive than "prime cuts" which are higher in fat. Chicken is usually less expensive than beef. The only time eating healthy may be more expensive is if you are trying to buy prepared healthy food. Those can be more expensive than mass produced foods.
  • No, we eat healthy and it doesn't cost more because I replace snack foods with heathy stuff and don't buy the prepared foods. I go twice to three times a week, but that's because the boys go through milk like water.
  • It is cheaper to buy quality ingredients and cook than buy prepared food that may not be as nutritious.
