  • Which vent the air blows out of is controlled by vacuum from the engine. You have a broken vacuum line. I have seen this a thousand times and I am positive that this is your problem. The lines they use for this get hard and brittle from heat and break very easy. The line will come off of the intake on the top of your engine and connect to the firewall. Its an easy fix once you find the line.
  • Luckily, that's easy to fix! If you have cruise control, you will find that your cruise doesn't work either. The problem is that a suction hose under the hood of your Jeep came loose. My came loose twice and my husband put it back on and it worked again (cruise and vents). Fell off again both times and I happened to have it in the dealership for something else and mentioned it to them. They put it back on, no charge, and so far it's stayed on this time. I don't know if they clamped it or what, but anyway it's back on and working.
  • I had the exact same thing happen. Searched for an answer and found it here. I have an 05 Wrangle Rubicon. On the side of the intake manifold the vacuum line had come off. Thank you answerbag.com and the folks who contributed. Works good now. Tomorrow I'll clean up the connectors and put a little RTV silicon on it and it should be good to go.
