  • just tell them. i know it sounds simple but can be quite hard to do. if you start at the beginning (something like "do you know how babies are made?"), use the proper terminology for body parts, do your best and dont sound embarrassed then you cant go wrong. get the message of mutual respect and sexual health across too. make sure they know they can ask you anything now and in the future. its a lot of information to contend with and they might have questions later that need answers. you would be surprised how many children (and sometimes adults too)think sex is a taboo subject and just get caught up in things. some kids think they know it all already, and well they might, but there can be gaps for you to fill. dont assume that teachers will take care of this task for you. be the responsible adult you want your child to grow up to be. dont let your embarrassment be an excuse to a childs ignorance.
