In 1986, Hyundai began to sell cars in the United States, and the Excel was nominated "Best Product #10" by Fortune magazine, largely because of its affordability. The company began to produce models with its own technology in 1988, beginning with the midsize Sonata

If a working 21 year old exists lol.
They improved DRASTICALLY over the years and are now a viable alternative to Honda or Nissan, though I doubt they (or anybody else outside of Germany) will ever match Toyota for reliability and longevity.

I have found their materials to be comparable to most other imports of slightly higher price and superior to most American cars that cost considerably more.
