I couldn't find this anywhere... what are the advantages to moving up a level or two, when you can already ask as many questions, or answer as many as you want?

As you move up levels, you get a greater voice, and possibly greater reputation, on the site. Moving up a level or two could increase the amount of points you can give and help you earn the respect of more experienced members

1) There is a limit on the number of questions that you may ask in a given time. This does not change with your level, though. 2) By growing levels you can give or take more points to questions and answers. Those numbers grow up to the following: ans ques Helpful Rating +6 +5 Not Helpful Rating -5 -5 After you reached the Sage title, this does not grow anymore, though. 3) Levels are a quick way to see your point amount. It is a good indication for the time that you have spent on Answerbag. Also, destructive users don't reach higher level so quickly.
