  • NO! At the moment, I am a stay at home mom as I just had a baby - this is my third. I have a year off from my job, as we are allowed in Canada. After the birth of my first I felt dumpy because I had always worked and felt like "just a housewife", not contributing to society. I had a very wise person tell me that no - now I have a bigger job ahead. To raise my kids properly. Maybe if more people were able to stay home to raise their kids, they'd have a better upbringing. Not saying that all kids who don't have a parent at home end up bad - just the point that being there plays such a big role in their lives. Unfortunately, we're at an age where it is almost impossible for a parent to afford to stay home - both parents have to work more and more nowadays. If I didn't have kids to stay home for and I was out of work and no income - I likely would feel belittled & worthless.
  • Not at all. I like some security and not working 50 hours a week, so I can do other things which I like too. Even if I do not make so much money. What I live is important.
  • Why are you unemployed? No matter what it is, no, you shouldn't belittle yourself for ANY reason, ever.
  • I've been unemployed, and what I felt was depressed. I used to get so irritated when I'd see workers going on strike for (usually) more money, even though they were making better wages than I was prior to being laid off. If you're not careful, you can become bitter, but, having said that, things have always seemd to work out. Don't give up.
  • I went through a period of unemployment after a lay-off many years ago and I was scared about money, but I was mentally and emotionally in a good place at the time, so I told myself everyday that the lesson was in not giving up. It worked for me.
