  • Yes, but that is why you call the police immediately and get them involved. You could be charged with harboring a run-away.
  • Someone needs to prove this boys mother is unfit to provide and protect her child. legally, until the above is accomplished, his mother is still his guardian. If you have not done so, you need to contact the police for a report and the notification of The Dept. of Human Services. this child will be allowed to live with another relative, if the unfit charge can be proven.
  • In the state of MO a child can leave home at the age of 17 for No Reason at all. The police cannot do anything and neither can the child's parent/guardian. Also, anytime up until the child turns 18 they may return home and the parent HAS to let them move back in. I have a very similar situation and spoke the Mo State Highway Patrol and the info they gave me is what I just stated. Good luck and don't worry.
  • At the age of 17 there are different laws for different states I suggest you call the law in your area.
  • In Missouri you have to be 18 to leave home with out your parents permission. Unless he or she is emancipated.
  • not unless the police want to make him go home, if they won't get involved then no, but don't go to arkansas, they will actually call ur parents because u have to be 18 there.
  • I would have the 17 year old boy contact the police and let the police know that he is safe and sound and why he does not wish to go home. That way you are safe from any charges related to him being a runaway. However, if the mom is as unfit as it appears, the police should be thankful this young man had a safe place to go.
