Make sure the disks aren't scratched. If they definitely aren't then you could take it back to where you bought it and ask if they can find out the problem for you.

I just fixed mine by adjusting the laser "power." Check out this article: http://db.gamefaqs.com/console/gamecube/file/gamecube_lens_calibrate.txt One key thing I did was measure the resitiance of the pot before and during the adjustment to ensure I don't over do it (very easy to over do). I started at .192KOhms and ended up at .113KOhms when all was said and done. Now the kids have a Gamecube again.
