I don't think that cooking in unnatural. In fact for many foods it's impossible to get the nutrients out of it fully. Carrots are much more nutritious if you cook them., for instance. We often eat a balancing diet which consists of rice for breakfast, no salt, with dried fruit and nuts added. Then cold veggies, like cucumbers and cilantro for lunch with lemon juice. For dinner we steam all sorts of veggies and serve them over rice, like squash asparagus, peas, carrots, etc.
