Given that Enlightenment is difficult to attain in one lifetime, is this proof in itself for many rebirths?

Ahh, that brings back some old memories. I've contemplated this many times but truthfully I cannot tell you whether we have only one lifetime and get judged as to where to go or whether the transmigration of souls is an actual phenomenon. Yet again I don't know if we just fade away into entropy when we perish. I think it may be due to a combination of good genes, upbringing and educational opportunities available. Gifted children will be given a higher advantage than regular children in many instances. According to Hindu and Buddhist dogma, that would be the case. I seriously don't know.
