  • I would imagine the smell is related to sewage, and the resultant growth of microorganisms breaking it down and releasing waste gas as a byproduct. This would explain why it is near your pump house (I assume it refers to a water pump of some kind). The increase in temperature would also mean the bacteria could reproduce much faster and breakdown the sewage much quicker than in the cold, making the smell worse. Are you able to check your outside drainage pipes? Is so, get someone to watch down it and get someone else to go back in the house and flush the toilet. If water flows down the pipe a few minutes later, it would mean there is no blockage between the house and that part of the drain. There may still be a blockage further along. If no water flows out or only at a trickle, there is a blockage that is impeding the water flow and is likely to be the source of nutrients for bactera.
