No my dear...It means 2 things: Firstly that you looked slimmer than usual. Secondly chill anf enjoy a compliment instead of analysing it for hidden barbs! Usually i thik if someone compliments me not the dress, it means the dress is enhancing my beauty, not overshadowing it - which is what a good dress should do!

A long dress draws the eye down the body, which usually gives people the impression that you look taller and thinner than usual. No, it doesn't mean you are fat the rest of the time, it's just the effect this dress has in it's style which makes you and nearly everyone else who wears a similar style look distincly different in this way. As this is probably the most striking and prominant observation, that's what people immediatly said. Be grateful I say, that people actually noticed and liked it. Most of us are used to being ignored day in, day out, so maybe we should just appreciate the nice things people say to us more instead of scrutinizing it all the time. More importantly though, it doesn't matter what everyone else says and thinks, it's what you think that matters.

It could mean they don't like your dress, but they like the effect it has on your body. If you really want to know what they meant, why don't you ask them? We can only guess. They can actually tell you.
