  • Human life is valued much more. Animals were given to man for his use, not abuse of course.
  • I think that animal and human life are equal because humans are animals. We are part of the animal kingdom. We are no different than the enormous blue whale and little elephant shrew.
  • human. most of the time. there are people i value less than snakes.
  • I would say human life, even though I am a fox and humans do nothing but try to hunt me using dogs. You wouldn't hunt me, would you?
  • their equal in my book.
  • Equal! Animals and humans are emotional creatures and they are living creatures.
  • No comparison. Human life is of infinitely more value. It's distressing to hear of people spending thousands of dollars on pet surgery when children in other parts of the world are dying of starvation.
  • Are you kidding? humans definatly!!! i love animals, but humans are infinetely more important to me.
  • There's that "value" word again. ALL life (and atom structure, I suppose) is equal. In the West this is not the current worldview. If I hit (and kill) the poor squirrel mentioned in other responses, I suffer no penalty other than some bad karma or something like that. If I strike (and kill) a person (genus: homo sapiens sapiens), I am subject to legal actions against me. This is because, in general, humans see themselves as a dominant species. To follow this through further, people see themselves as more dominant than other humans, and so we divide and conquer as we see fit. Currently the US is the dominant group, but empires and inherently unstable, and this too shall pass.
  • Human life; though we still have a responsibility to treat the animals under our care humanely.
  • Human hands down.
  • I love animals, but human life is more valuable.
  • I value you both, so to me they are equal. My animals are like my kids .
  • value both the same... :)
  • From my screen name, I would say that I value animals more because they are truly appreciative for what you do for them. Even snakes & other reptiles. I do value human life, but society f's them up sometimes. With animals, you get what you give with no strings attached.
  • Humans are more important than animals and have more value. Of course animals are nessecary for human life and deserve our respect and protection.
  • Well, if the next-door neighbor was burrowing in my back yard I probably wouldn't try to crush HIM, so I'd have to say human.
  • Human life is far more precious than any non-human animal. To state they are equal is very scary. That gives me the impression that if me and a dog were both going into cardiac arrest, you would actually have to debate with yourself as to which to save... There is a huge difference between animal-kind and human-kind. We are infinitely more complex physically, mentally, emotionally and consciously. We have free will and the ability to reason, where animals run on instinct and respond as taught by their parents or caretaker. The ability to love and care are predominantly human. Do animals really love, mourn, have regret? Or are they emotions we assign to their behaviour? Is a kitten sad when its mother is hit by a car and it's licking her face or is it just unsure what to do because mom isn't responding? Does it go on for the rest of its life thinking about its mother? Does it visit her grave site, or even remember her? Does the dog really love you, or appreciate you... or is it acting in a way that gets a positive response? A trained behaviour, something to get what it wants whether it be a pat on the head, a belly rub, food, a treat? I value my pets, but I value my children more. I love my pet, but I love my fellow human more. If I was poor and could barely feed my family, I would feed them before my pets (granted I would try to find suitable homes for my pets where they could be taken care of). My pets are part of my family, but they are on the bottom most rung. This debate was addressed in my older question about animal testing also.
  • I value all life but will place humans above animal life if the need arises.
  • humans destroy animals live so I'm siding with the animals over humans our currant way of life is wasteful and destroying our planet because people are so sure that there "god" is coming for them they don't care about preserving the planet for the future generations. they fight over who's god is the true god and develop nuclear weapons instead of spending the money and effort to develop better housing, schooling, health care, food growing technology to feed the masses
  • humans. otherwise what's to stop from killing a neighbor if we're hungry and have no meat? (ew)
  • Human. Anyone who thinks differently should just go live with the animals.
  • It depends on the person or animal. If its a serial killer than I value their life less...
