  • To answer your question, yes and no. The members Sid Wilson (DJ), Joey Jordison (drums), Paul Gray (bass), James Root (guitar), Shawn Crahan (custom percussion) and Corey Taylor (vocals) all have side-projects, in which they play with their faces shown clear as day. Sid Wilson is also known as DJ Starscream, and has been on tour with various Japanese DJ's. His material is not very widely distributed, however his website shows photos of him without his gas mask, or his newer "skull" mask. Joey Jordison dropped his drumsticks and played (plays) the guitar in the glam metal band Murderdolls, who were (in my opinion) the most successful of the Slipknot side-projects. They have toured around the world, and are signed to Roadrunner Records, the same label Slipknot belong to. He dropped his white kabuki style mask whilst performing with Murderdolls. Paul Gray (from what I have heard) formed a band with various members of the metal band American Head Charge, however I am unsure what the name of the band is, or how big they are. Paul does not wear his pig style mask in this band, either. James Root and Corey Taylor both went back to their old band Stone Sour when it seemed Slipknot went on hiatus in late 2002. This would be the second most successful of the "side-projects". The band had slight mainstream success with their single "Bother", which entered the US top 40, and was featured on the Spiderman movie soundtrack. Root took of his jester mask, and Taylor took off his old ghostly dread-locked mask whilst playing with Stone Sour. Interesting note, Stone Sour's bassist is actually one of Slipknot's stage techs. Stone Sour are also signed to Roadrunner. Shawn Crahan created various bands, none of which particularly took off or even became popular, to say the least. His band To My Surprise are signed to Roadrunner Records, where Crahan skips his clown mask. However, he does not particularly show his face in any of the bands promo photos. It is always covered in shadow or out of focus. He performed with the band without his mask. The other members of the band, Chris Fehn (custom percussion, long nose), Craig Jones (samples and media, black mask with nails) and Mick Thompson (guitar, silver mask) do not to my knowledge participate in any side projects. Photos of a maskless Mick Thompson are quite easy to find, whereas unmasked pictures of Chris Fehn and (especially) Craig Jones are near impossible to find. Hope this helped!
