There can be. A certain percentage of women feel dizziness and lose balance for a few days. I know one girl in particular who had a very strong reaction, and had to quit school for 6 months. All in all, the benefits probably outweigh the risks...but like most drugs, when you test on animals and not people you don't get useful data (see thalidomide).
