  • Wow... Quite a few! I enjoy reading!! I don't even think I can actually pinpoint a number! If I under guess, then I look like a tard! And over guessing, makes me look like a liar...
  • Well over a thousand I would guess. I read quite a bit.
  • Too many to give you an actual number. I love reading and do it any chance I can get.
  • far too many to count. sadly, none this year.
  • Too many to count in this lifetime so far. Now that school is finished, I just went out and bought about 8 books to read over the summer. I need a good "mind vacation" after this semester.
  • I have read more books than I would like to count.
  • Thousands and thousands and I contiue to add each year, and each week. I have one in the car I read when we drive around. I have one next to my bed and I read the Bible and many other books.
  • I couldn't even begin to think how many I have read in my lifetime. I was reading complete novels by the time I was 8 or 9, so...well, I am 50 now.
  • Are you serious? Who could count the number of books they've read? Perhaps you should narrow your question down a little, like 'how many books have you read this year, or this month?' I think for some people, it would be difficult to give a number even for a one year period. Personally, so far this year I've only read about 30 books. School and family make it hard to find time for extra reading, but I will make up for it in the summer!

  • Well, i read 2 last week...usually get though at least a few a month. I've been reading since I was like 3. I am now 21. So....a lot?
  • I would guess somewhere in the region of 200, but it is a guess, I know someone that keeps a record and she has read over 10,000 in less than 25 years!!! But she is an extreame reader and that prob includes 70 page short books.
  • Oh, I have NO idea. Thousands, at least. I read fast, and I read often.
  • I could only guess at the number being between 10,000 and 20,000. I took a speed reading course and memory course back in the late 1970s when I was in the Canadian military. I speak 6 languages and I often read the same book in two or three different languages ... it helps me to learn the different expressions that convey the same message. I took a computer programming course in 1992 and have been constantly reading 2 or more books per week to keep up with new programming stuff ever since.
  • I don't know too many to count i cant give you a number.
  • ... an estimated 100 per year since age 10 (maybe another 100 up to age 10) ... a rough guess would be somewhere between 3,800 and 4,000.
  • In my entire life? That's crazy. Well lets see...I guess when I was a child I read a lot more books because they were short and there were only like 5 sentences max on a page. I think as I got into school in middle school/highschool, less
  • I can't even begin to put a number on that. Now that I'm not in school, I read an average of a book a week for leisure. When I was in school, I read even more.
  • A lot. I have read so many books I cannot even count.
  • I've read too many to count. I own over 12,000 of them.
  • I can't count that high!!! I love to read!!!!!!!
  • Oh my I have read so many books in my life and I still have all of them since grammar school. I enjoy reading till this day. When I have some spare time this is what I do the most. And I give my god daughter books to read, and she enjoys them alot. I believe pass on your knowledge to the youth and see where it goes:)She is only 5 and she is reading very well thanks to her grandmother (babycakes)
  • Only three... this month. Like many others here, there is no counting the lifetime total.
  • approx 2203, I keep a record...It is a good idea to record what you read otherwise there is a tendency to vastly over-rate the actual figure. i
  • You do the math...I could read when I was 4..no TV in the house and no siblings to play with. Guess what I did to pass the time? On average I figure 3 books a week all my life from 4 to 24...then (because I had kids as well as worked) about 1 book a week until I was 38. Then 2 a week until I was 55. Then 3 a week as I began to work part-time. Now, at 63, 2 a week, because I cannot read in bed without falling asleep!
  • I couldn't even begin to guess. I read a lot.
  • A lot but nowhere near as many as I would like to have read. I just don't seem to find enough hours in the day.
  • About 50 this year
  • Probably about 50. Heh heh, I'm not a big reader.
  • Like, five.
  • Tough question; over a hundreds for sure.
  • Thousands since I read all the time and I'm 53
  • A LOT !!!
  • Somewhere in the thousands. In school, I always got the award for reading the most books during the year. I kept the hobby as an adult, and, although I don't read nearly as much as I would like to, if I find a good author or series I like, I'll buy them all and read them all.
  • Too many to count...
  • I usually read 3-5 books per week and since I'm 30 I would have to say entirely too many.
  • Lots of them. Too many to remember.
  • thousands about 2/3 a week since i was 3 and im 19 now so u do the maths
  • Too many...I read a couple of books a week and I've been reading for over 20 years now.
  • Way too many to count. I have read books regularly since I was in my early teens. I do not read as much as I use to or would like due to lack of time but at bedtime I usually get to read some.
  • That is difficult to answer. From cover to cover probably 3 - 4000. It is a major achievement if someone manages to read more than 6000 books in his or her lifetime. I do my best.
  • Far, far, far too many to possibly count.
  • Too many to count. But in the hundreds probably. Not thousands.
  • Yikes! I would have to say well over 2,000! I have over 1,000 in my personal library, all of which I have read at least once.
  • Too many to count but in the 3-4 hundred range.
  • As have many of the other ABers who've answered this question, too numerous to count. And I have read many of them at least twice.
  • Far to many to count. I average fifty to sixty a year. Although I am a notorious re-reader. Some years over half the books I read will be for the second or third time. I've even read "Boy's Life" by Robert R. McCammon and "Time enough For Love" by Robert A. Heinlein more than a half a dozen times each. When I was a young lad back in the sixties, I failed to hand in a book report (because I hadn't read it) and the teacher threw me out of class. "Don't come back until you have a book report for me!" he screamed at my dejected form as I slunk down the hallway to the school library. The school librarian asked me what my favourite TV show was and I answered, "Lost In Space." Later that year I would discover another awesome show when it first started airing, "Star Trek." She told me to seek out books in the fiction section that had a small rocket-ship sticker on the spine. "If you like outer space stories you can't go wrong with one of those," she told me. I picked out "The Runaway Robot" by Lester Del Rey. From the moment I picked up the book I was hooked. I had a book report for my teacher the next day. By the end of the month I had read all the SF books in the school library. "The Secret of the Ninth Planet" by Donald A. Wollheim, "The Rolling Stones" by Robert A. Heinlein, "Voyage to The Mushroom Planet" by Eleanor Cameron, and more! It was all just juvenile SF but amazing stuff for a new reader.. By the end of the year, I had read all the SF in our local regional library. I even obtained an "Adult" card at age ten to allow me to get to some of the "older" SF like "Stranger in a Strange Land" by R.A.Heinein. It wasn't long before I ran out of SF and was forced to start reading other genres and found that I loved them as well! Back in the mid-eighties, I was teaching electronics to young sailors at the Fleet School in Halifax and one of my students, during a break, bragged to a fellow classmate that he had only read two books in his entire life and that was only because he couldn't graduate High School without doing that reading. All I could do was shake my head... What fabulous tales and wonderful worlds did this guy miss out on because to him reading was a chore. Hope this helps.
  • I get through 2/3 books a week and have been reading since I was about 3! Si I've read quite a lot =)
  • Are.You.Kidding? It is so impossble for me to count. I'm getting a headache just thinking about all the digits...oohh...
  • Too many to count!!! I'm an avid reader!!!!
