  • Well, for all I know he may have been correct in saying so, but that's not my place to judge. Did you fail to yield? Were you legally required to? Was there any chance for confusion given the circumstances? Were you under duress? A clean record is a good part of a defence, but if you committed the crime you may have to suffer the penalty. You could go to court and plead your case, but don't get your hopes up. You could also contact the officer who ticketed you and see if they would be willing to drop the points if you pay the fine? Or maybe something similar? There's lots of sites you can go to for advice on this kind of thing. Good luck
  • If you failed to yield, you will have to bite the bullet. If you want to challenge the ticket you should study the copy of the ticket you were given very careful and look for a telelphone number for the court and then ask someone at the court how to go about contesting the ticket. If you failed to yield, you will have to bite the bullet. And remember, it is your word against a cop. Good luck!
  • Whenever you get a traffic ticket, there is always a chance that you will can get the ticket dismissed. Talk to a lawyer about your ticket. Usually they will give you an initial consult at no charge. Tell them about your ticket, the circumstances surrounding it, and ask what your chances are of getting it dismissed. The lawyer will then give you a good idea (certainly not a guarantee) what your chances are of getting the ticket dismissed. Factors that affect the probability of getting a dismissal include your own driving record, the circumstances surrounding the ticket (was it an accident, how serious was the violation) and the leniency of the district and the judge. Often times a simple traffic ticket will be dropped without even going before a judge. Usually, you will have to pay court costs, and they may ask you to take a defensive driving course, and you'll also have to pay the lawyer. If the ticket is dropped, however, it will not be on your record, which will keep your insurance rates from going up. Although it sounds like you are a conscientious driver, remember that you only get so many "get out of jail free" cards.
  • Were you guilty? did you include all the circumstances surrounding the citation? I feel something has been left out.
