I'm afraid it's a bit gruesome and involves unpleasant violence-don't read on if this might affect you. I caught a girl of 21 in a pub toilet sawing her neck with a serrated knife this weekend. I talked to her.Made an excuse to go to the toilet and texted the manager who I knew-'girl in toilet with knife come now'.He took the knife off her.We took her outside and I kept her talking while the police and ambulance came.She had escaped from a mental home but I got the name off her.Very disturbing.

I think it has to be the time I was down the south coast with a friend and our daughters. When we went down to the beach, we unexpectedly met another friend, who was there with her husband and children. She told me it was a shame I wasn't there the day before, because a pod of dolphins came in close to shore. Just as she said this, they surfaced about 100 metres off shore. I thought "WOW. It would be great to swim with them." THen I thought, "Why don't I?" so I launched myself into the water and swam towards them. My friend's eldest son realised what I was doing and followed me...with some fish he had caught from the beach. As we approached the dolphins, David threw the fish to get their attention. The dolphins turned curiously and began to circle us. The water was so clear I could see them below my feet, and they were all around. One came up just beyond my arm, in a full arc of his body. I was amazed but a little scared, as they were much bigger than I ever thought. I remember thinking: I hope they like me, because they could do a lot of damage if they don't. But they were just curious and hungry. When they realised we didn't have any more fish, they went off, following the shoal they had been tailing. Leaving David and I just flabbergasted in the water...what an experience.

In 2000 my new boyfriend asked me to sail with him and his family across the atlantic ocean into the med for the summer! Having never been out of America before, I quit my job, sold my car, moved out of my apartment and jumped on this 153 foot sailboat with him (who I had only dated a few months but loved) and his family who I barely knew. We went port to port from Spain, to France to Italy ALL the islands off the coast and to Greece, Croatia and 22 other countries in a 5 month period. It changed my life forever and we dated for 4 years. Now I am good friends with his family still and I still sail with them twice a year. In July, we are going to Europe again and this time I'm filming it and making it a documentary! Here's a video I made of those years of travel...
