Any sudden growth or change in existing growths should be cause enough to see a doctor. ALWAYS better to be safe than sorry. I don't think it's "normal" but I am not a medical doctor, but I can say that if it happened to me I'd probably watch it for a day or 2 to see what happens then go to a doctor.

I've been a specialist in oncology, and my opinion is you should have it looked at. Yes, you can have spots on your palms and soles, but it never hurts to get it checked. if it is nothing, no harm done. But leave it and it is something nasty, it may be to late to treat it.

Judging by what information you have given I would say, no. There is this thing knows as the ABC's of skin cancer. Its the letters A-E on what to look for if you are concerned that a mole might be cancerous. They are: Asymmetry: If a mole is not round or symmetrical, or one half of the mole is not similar to the other half, it could be a sign of cancer. Border Irregularity: Cancerous moles have irregular borders that may be being uneven, ragged, notched, or blurred. Color: The typical color of a mole is consistently brown throughout. A mole that has changed color over time or is varied in a shade of brown, tan and black may be cancerous. If melanoma has progressed, the mole may become red, blue or white. Diameter: Cancerous moles can be more than six millimeters in diameter (about ¼ inch or the size of a pencil eraser). Elevation: Is ir raised above the rest of the skin, if so it may be cancerous. You vetoed many of these on your description, but If you are worried, by all means see a dermatologist.

I think that any new mole should definitely be checked professionally, just to be safe. But don't panic - as others have said, yours doesn't have many of the danger signs. But I would still get it checked if I were you.
